He was looking for full tang, forged steel that could easily be sharpened so he didn't want a lot of serated blades. This Kitchen Aid set is what he bought me. I love it. The separate block for the steak knives can be set on the table during dinner. The knives are well balanced and easy to use. I don't know anything about knives. With these, I don't need to.
