(More customer reviews)I need a knife block for my new Shun vegetable cleaver. The Shun knife block with a slot for a vegetable cleaver is double the price. Then I saw this on amazon.com, and decided to give it a try. The only thing I wasn't sure was if the top slot would be wide enough for my cleaver, and there was no description on amazon.com's listing. Fortunately the cleaver did fit, but barely. The slot is exactly 3.5" wide, so other shoppers can measure their cleavers before they purchase this knife block.
Overall it's very well made. It's smooth to touch. There are four rubber feet at the bottom so it won't slide on the counter. The only minus point is, other than the two rectangular slots for a sharpening steel and a kitchen shear, the rest of the knife slots are thick enough for knives only. If you have a carving fork and a kitchen shear, then you'll have to make a decision which one goes into your drawer.
